Thank you for a fantastic season! We enjoyed celebrating with you at the End of Season picnic last Saturday. Thank you to our League Sponsor Gator Mechanical and all those who donated baskets for our Silent Auction. Also, we extend a BIG THANK YOU to our Coaches! Plan to attend and enjoy a delicious lunch made by the Seminole Fire Dept, a Fabulous Silent Auction and Bounce Houses. Come celebrate our season and enjoy time with friends. The 37th Annual Kiwanis All You can Eat Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser will be held the same day (3/3) from 7:00am-11:00am inside the Seminole Recreation Center. We encourage you to stop by before our Picnic!

February 25, 2018:

Recreation & Competitive: The upcoming Seminole FC Board meetings will be held (Feb. 28th and April 4th). Elections will take place at the April 4th meeting and all positions will be voted on. January 15, 2018: The Fields are OPEN for practice tonight!

**One modification: The teams that practice on the U10 Field #3 from 6-7pm should move to Field #2.  The teams that practice from 7-8pm need to move to Field #1 or Field #4.  Please be mindful of saturated spots and avoid practicing on them.  Ex. Penalty Box on the Northfield by the restroom.

Soccer Families,

Board Members and Recreation Staff walked the fields today and determined that the standing water and drainage issues will cause unsafe playing conditions. We are closing the fields tomorrow (1/13). Seminole FC Recreation and Competitive games can be rescheduled. Recreation Coaches, contact Doug Hartwell at dhartwell57@gmail.com to receive information on rescheduling your games.Competitive Coaches, contact Ron Hood at seminoleshootingstars@gmail.com to receive information on rescheduling your games.

We will send out an email soon regarding the scheduled picture delivery tomorrow (1/13).

Soccer Families,

As Board Members and Soccer Parents we are proud of the hard work our kids put in each week to grow in their knowledge of this awesome sport. Unfortunately, due to poor field conditions, we have not been able to practice consistently over the past 2 weeks. This may have left you frustrated and wondering what is going on. The Seminole FC Board is working closely with Recreation Center Director, Becky Gunther, and the Coordinator of Programs, Rob Tuttle to address our drainage concerns. We are verifying their water schedules and field maintenance. We are also walking the fields each day to see where specific concerns are and what areas need to be addressed. We have safety at the forefront of our minds and want our fields to be the best they can be.

Recreation: GYSA Tournament: The dates for the GYSA tournament have been announced! Seminole FC is a member of the Gulfcoast Youth Soccer Association (GYSA). GYSA schedules all our games and is a membership organization where we meet monthly with other Clubs in the Association. The spring tournament is a time for our U10 and older teams to play other GYSA teams in round robin style tournament . The ultimate winner plays in the Battle of the Bay tournament (GYSA vs. TARSA) against teams on the Tampa side. Last year Coach Arias's U12 Boys recreational team were runner-ups in their age division out of the entire Tampa Bay area. Let's GO Seminole FC! Mark your calenders for these dates and let your Coach know ASAP if you are unable to attend the tournament. All GYSA games will be played at Pinellas county fields. U8 teams also have an opportunity to play in a Jamboree sponsored by GYSA. Check out the dates below.

Tomorrow (12/23) will be the last day to pick up pictues before the holiday. We will be at the Seminole Rec Field Parking Lot tomorrow from 9am-10am. After tomorrow's pick up, the remaining pictures will be given to the coaches to hand out the week of January 8th.

Holiday Parade: Sunday, December 10th (Arrive by 6:00pm. Parade starts at 6:30pm)

Seminole FC will be walking in the Parade! For those who want to walk with Seminole FC in the parade, they will need to have an adult walk with them and wear something that lights up (glow necklace, etc.). ****Arrive no later than 6:00pm. We will meet in the back parking lot of Seminole College campus and will finish in the back parking lot where we started. ***We will be handing out candy.***

November 12, 2017:

Recreation & Competitive: During Thanksgiving week (Nov 20-24), the fields will be closed and there will not be any practices. Enjoy your holiday!

Recreation & Competitive: Please see our League Rules below. We would like to highlight Rule #6. It is very important for the safety of your child and for Seminole FC & Recreation Center insurance liabilities that we strictly follow Rule #6.

Seminole FC/Shooting Stars League Rules:

1. No person on the sidline will be allowed to harass any Player, Coach or Referee.

2. Parents or family members are not allowed at any time to interfere with practices or games.

3. Foul or obscene language will not be tolerated.

4. NO FIGHTING on the fields or anywhere on Recreation Center property.

5. NO insulting, harassing, badgering, pestering, bullying will be tolerated at any time.

6. For all players under the age of 15, a parent or guardian must be present during practices and games. If parent or guardian is not present, the player will have to sit out the practice and game. A parent or guardian must be present to make medical or emergency decisions for the player.

7. No smoking is allowed on any field. If you must smoke, do so in the parking lot.

8. No Dogs allowed on the field (service dogs only).

9. No one is allowed to hang on the goals (this is a serious safety issue).

Anyone who breaks these rules will be escorted off the field.

Recreation and Competitive Families: This is the last week for our Gold Canyon Candle Fundraiser. Team Parents and Team Managers can turn in all player packets (even the ones who didn't sell any items) to Board Member Shannon Allen on (3) different days. Shannon will be at the Pavilion by the Pool on 10/24, 10/26 and 10/30 from 6:30-8:00pm. Candles should arrive during Thanksgiving Break. Helping at the Field of Screams event will fulfill your Volunteer requirements and qualify you to be exempt from the $25 fee. Everyone who signed up to volunteer from coaches to event helpers to field maintenance, etc. were not required to pay the $25 volunteer fee.

Recreation Families: If you signed up to volunteer with Field Maintenance, you will receive a SignUp genius email soon. Helping with Field Maintenance will fulfill your Volunteer requirements and qualify you to be exempt from the $25 fee. We are marking our 25th year by bringing both our Recreational and Competitive programs under one name, Seminole FC. Our organization has a strong history and mission in our community. As we unite our two programs under one name, we continue in our mission to give Pinellas County youth the opportunity to experience the joy of youth soccer at all levels. Practices start the Week of October 2nd with a Wednesday and Thursday practice. The following weeks we will resume practices as scheduled on their designated nights.

***We have made these changes due to the FEMA event that takes place through October 2nd. The event has produced a high volume of crowds and limitted parking. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these changes.

It's been a fun season!

February 2, 2017:

March 4^th, from 10 am to 1 pm, will be our End of Season Picnic! The Picnic is a fun time to gather as a league to celebrate the season, enjoy great food, play on bounce houses/obstacle courses, be entertained by a DJ AND bid on the Shooting Stars Silent Auction! We ask each Team Parent/Manager to coordinate a Team Basket for this FUN fundraiser. Some teams do 2! This is our final fundraiser of the season and we ask that every team participate. If you would like a copy of the Silent Auction Business Request Letter, please email us at seminoleshootingstars@gmail.com. Please work with your coach or team parent on a theme. All baskets will need to be turned in by 2/9/17 between 7 pm and 8:30 pm. Here are some ideas:

· Weekend Getaway –

o Local hotels have given away weekend stays at their resorts. Players can add robes to the basket, a bottle of champagne etc.

· Family Night In –

o This basket could include items such as movies, candy, popcorn, etc.

· Party Night –

o This could include liquor, wine, cigars, etc.

We have had a great registration season and need the extra week to ensure that each team has their coaches in place with the needed supplies and training materials prior to the start of practices. Rest assured that the Seminole Shooting Stars Volunteer Board is working hard to ensure that we start the Recreational season well and give your children the best soccer experience.
